Playroom TV Cabinet

We designed this cabinet to house a TV in a Victorian home’s play room. The decorative top is a playful reference to the home’s exterior turret and Monopoly game pieces. We put it in a space above the radiator that places the TV at a perfect height for eye level viewing when seated. Natural cherry wood blends with the mellowed birch finish of the adjacent millwork, and the black accents reference other black accents used throughout the house.
BANQUETTE SEAT
The client had saved a magazine picture of an elegant skirted banquette to demonstrate that she would like something unexpected in this dinette area. Given the Victorian architecture, we felt than an ice cream parlor feeling would fit the bill. We custom designed the table with ornate black iron legs and and a faux Carrera marble top (we chose Corian over real marble for its physical warmth). In Victorian design more is more, so we used as many fabrics and details as possible. The short skirt and chubby legs bring a happy toddler to mind.
Our banquette design was constructed by the able crew at Rochford Upholstery in Minneapolis. The table top was made by BWS (Bob’s Wood Specialties) in Burnsville.
